Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy-de-Domme France on the 9th of August, 1976. She was the eldest among four kids. Her parents encouraged her parents, a dentist and teacher and both of them were teachers. They encouraged her to pursue her passion for acting. This was in contrast to an earlier desire to become a primateologist because she loved monkeys. Her meteoric rise as a young actress was quick and marked by her early successes. In 1998 after her studies, she was a participant in a French talent-scouting TV programme Jeunes Premiers sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to beginning acting professionally. Tautou, who attended in the Institut Catholique de Paris in Paris as a child and was a student there from young age, has disavowed her Catholic upbringing. Now, she claims to be a non-Catholic. Alongside her acting profession, she has is also pursuing modelling. She modelled in the commercials for L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and has been referred as "The Chanel Muse". She also has a serious passion for photography. She recently produced an exhibition of her work during the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. In her photographs, she focuses primarily on celebrity and the spotlight. The camera's focus is towards journalists who scrutinized her during her rise to stardom in Amelie. Audrey Tautou's international recognition and popularity exploded after her performance in the film as Amelie Poulain's lead lady in Le Fabuleux Destin in the film d'Amelie. Amelie was a film box office successes and was acclaimed at awards ceremonies across the globe. It's the biggest French language film ever on the US. The film's success led to a huge increase in production. Tautou starred in a variety of films, including British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. Tautou also appeared alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
