On August 9, 2009 Decker released her first self-titled album under the name Jessie James. Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted a single that brushed into the Top 40 of the singles charts. But while Decker had always considered herself an artist from the country scene, her album was made and promoted to a broader audience mind. Decker was unable to gain control over her music released after the two prior singles weren't very well-received. Decker's second album, announced as Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was shelved after Mercury was disappointed by the performances of three of her singles on country radio charts.
